So we've been throwing around this word "kurta", assuming that everyone knows what it means. Turns out we didn't even really know what it actually meant! So I did a little research and it's actually kind of interesting so I thought I'd share what I found.
"Pronounced k-er-ta, it a simple traditional Indian tunic that has been transformed into modern beach and resort wear." From Roberta Roller Rabbit, the kurta has become the staple and the foundation of her collection, showing off the handblock printing technique that the line is known for -- "a centuries old craft performed by the finest artisians in India, a process involving raw mixed paints on fabric using wooden irons or wood blocks." Made of 100% cotton voile, people have taken a modern twist on the traditional kurta by wearing them to the beach or even casually with a pair of jeans.
