So I took a trip to Tulum Mexico last spring. Tulum is very cool, not temperature, but vibe. It's sort-of a bohemian eco-friendly beach town with fabulous food and drink!!! We went our exploring way deeper into Mexico than we probably should have, but we made it out alive and unhurt, and along the way ate the best guacamole and margaritas you've ever had in your life. Since Willow is never far from my mind, I wanted to check out their local markets. I was in search of Mexian-gypsy style dresses and blouses and I scored some loot! I got some great tops hand-made by these old ladies embroidered with beautiful yarns and lace. Selfishly I only grabbed a few for me a few for Willow. The Willow tops sold out in an hour. NEED to go back.
But in the mean time....there is always the amazing Jen's Pirate Booty!
Jen’s Pirate Booty embodies the true meaning of gypsies, free-spirited individuals with nomadic or unconventional lifestyles. Founder Jen Rossi, buyer for the popular Soouthern California boutique Planet Blue, has traveled the world gathering bits and pieces of different cultures, weaving them into her very own personal style: part gypsy, part boho, part pirate. The result? Carefree pieces that are as spontaneous and fun as the lives we lead. (Jenspiratebooty.com)
Born and raised in Malibu (not to mention, long-time buyer for Planet Blue) Jen Rossi has nailed the free-spirited, flirty, west-coast vibe of her line. And the cutest detail? The washing instructions.“hand wash in the ocean. hang from a palm tree or lay to dry in the sand. peace, love, and happiness.”
"Every piece of gauze in the Jen's Pirate Booty collection is hand dyed, using all natural dyes, in clay pots over wood burning stoves. Then hung to dry on a line, in the Mexican sunlight. This is a family trade that has been passed down through many generations and Jen from Jen's Pirate Booty is very grateful to be using it for her products. This special process helps keep every piece unique in it's own way." - Jen Rossi
Not to mention she was a buyer for the uber-cool LA boutique, Planet Blue. It's a must stop on the LA shopping trip.
Hometown: Malibu Current Location: Traveling through Mexico! Line: Jen's Pirate Booty Vibe: Positive and present. Uniform: Vintage boots, abalone necklaces, flowy gauze or lace top, something unexpected. OG: The most cherished PB original has been around since day one. Doubling as a buyer and store chick, Jen greeted everyone with a raspy "heyyyyy babe!" and killer outfit everytime. Whenever we're having an off day, we just pretend we're her and instantly our mood and style have gone carefree. Swoon. (planetblue.com)
We started carrying JPB a few years ago and when I first ordered the line, I asked the rep where she got the name. She said when Jen was on trip to Mexico she found all these clothes or loot and brought them back for her friends. Since pirate booty mean's the "pirate's loot" of goodies that they capture or find, Jen called her line, "Jen's Pirate Booty"! She seems like one cool chick with a fabulous life!!!!
Come get some JPB for yourself to wear during this VERY hot summer in the south!!
Just 2 short years ago, our beloved gulf coast suffered one of the world's worst oil spill disasters on our fragile ecosystem and already seasonal economy. By the grace of God and much support and prayers from many giving people and loyal visitors, we are bouncing back and our coast is more beautiful that ever. On this beautiful gulf coast morning, we are so thankful to God!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday I was steadfast working in the back room "the hole" at Willow & Woods with Rebekah, trying to keep up with all the arriving boxes and boxes; getting them unpacked, priced and out of the floor...so they can fly out the door, as they have as of of late with Spring Break 12' in full effect.
Anyway, we heard a sweet customer complimenting the store and how it was her first time in Willow & Woods. She went on and on about the clothes and shoes and new gorgeous floors. Then she said, "ya know, this store is like an upscale Anthropologie". I didn't really know what to think about that since Anthropologie is not my fav digs, but it is a cool store and lots of you ladies seem to love it!
So I get an email this a.m. that one of our new Spring lines is en route...Ace & Jig!!! Finally!!!! Then I started to think about the cute customer's comment....Ace & Jig is very upscale Anthropologie, and Cindy and I both LOVED it at market.
These two designers decided they wanted to create an effortless clothing line, but not denim, tees or knits. So they traveled to India to find yarns and fabrics and even found a manufacturer who uses an antique loom to create their designs each by hand. Each piece can also be put in the washer and dryer.
These are the most comfortable and cool clothes...you must check them out. Perfect beachwear style!!! They will go fast, so don't be shy. We will post pics of FB.
