Sorry we have been MIA...
We all have had the crud around here and not in the best of spirits to blog. Although we got to feeling a little better this past weekend, just in time for 30a Songwriter's Festival. It was amazing!! This is the 2nd year so I guess that now qualifies it to be known as an annual event. Well mark your calenders for next year. MLK weekend. All these fabulous artists come from ALL over and play at restaurants, bars, town halls and pavilions all weekend. So grassroots. Make sure to check out the details here.
Friday night we went to Watercolor's Fish Out of Water, focused on seeing Mat Kearney, which we did, but also go to hear a really cool artist, Vienna Teng before. She is an American gal, with Chinese parents. All of her songs were so beautiful. Vienna sang a lullaby in Chinese that her grandmother used to sing to her and wow was it breathtaking. Mat Kearney was everything and more that I had hoped for. So cool and down to earth. LOVED hearing all his stories about how his songs were composed. Got to hang out with him and his gorgeous wife a little later at another venue. Really neat people.
Point being from above: 1. Check into coming to 30a Songwriter's Festival next year. 2. Mat Kearney is fantastic
Next point, if you are like me, you like to find your own new music. I wish I had hours and hours to scroll through Itunes every day, but I don't. Well my sweet friend and Willow girl, Paige introduced me to the coolest new music site. Daytrotter.com
Here is how it works. You just go and search as artist. ie Mat Kearney. You then join, download and you get 4-6 of his songs for FREE!!!!!!! They give you a nice sampling of each artist. oh, it is legal so no worries for trouble. Neat and very creative site and did I mention it is FREE!!!
So go get a little Mat Kearney in your life too!! Watch out Chris Martin..I'm just saying...
